Patient Resources

Dr. Schlaudraff and his staff provide the following information for plastic surgery patients who are traveling to his Geneva, Switzerland practice.

Planning Your Surgery

Patients commonly ask: "I live abroad, how many days in advance do I need to arrive and how soon after surgery can I travel back home?"

We recommend that you plan to stay in Geneva for 4 to 7 days. During these days you will have sufficient time to discuss your wishes and needs with Dr. Schlaudraff, meet with the anesthesiologist as well as proper post operative care. We understand how precious your time is so in order for us to be as efficient as possible we also recommend that you do the lab test in your country of origin. It is necessary for each patient to perform a lab test before leaving home. This saves you both time and money and we can instead focus on your consultation and post-op care.

In and Around Geneva

  • Boat tours on Lake Geneva. Go on a beautiful boat ride on Lake Geneva. Perhaps you would like to stop in the lovely medieval town of Ivoire. Or perhaps you would like to enjoy a dinner while watching the sun go down over the mountains.
  • Chocolate factory. What is a trip to Switzerland without enjoying some chocolate? This charming chocolate store is a little secret - not a lot of tourists know about. It's a family run store with homemade chocolate – not to be missed!
  • Mont Blanc. Go hiking in the Mont Blanc area or just take the cabin lift up to Aiguille du Midi to enjoy the stunning view. If you are not arriving in Switzerland by car there are plenty of buses available to take you to this incredible place.
  • Carouge. A lovely village just a few bus stops from the city center where you find great cafés. Have a cup of coffee at Wolfisberg or a hot chocolate at Martèl (the market) on Saturday mornings.

In Switzerland

  • Jungfrau. Have you always wondered whether those beautiful mountain trains that you see in the movies really exist? They do... If you have an extra day or two it's definitely worth going to Jungfrau. Jungfrau is the name of the region in and around Interlaken south east of Bern. Interlaken itself has become quite touristy the last few years however the little villages around Interlaken are well worth a visit. Once in Grindelwald you can take the beautiful mountain train all the way up to the top. The train is old and it takes a few hours, but it is one of the most beautiful rides in the world.
  • Neuchâtel. Only an hour away. Take a daytrip to the picturesque town of Neuchatel.
  • Bern. If you are in Switzerland you cannot miss Bern! The capital of Switzerland is small so it is a place you can easily visit for half a day even though it's likely you will want to spend days strolling through the little streets of the old town.
  • Basel . If you love art, this is the place to go. Basel is known as the "Art Capital of Europe" with wonderful museums like Foundation de Beyler, Kunstmuseum Basel and The Historisches Museum Basel. If you happen to be in Switzerland in June, you should not miss ArtBasel – the world's premier international art show for modern and contemporary art with over 2,500 artists from all over the world.

St. Moritz / Engadine

The area is called Grisons, or Graubünden in Swiss German. This is a place that one can still consider old Switzerland. In Grisons they speak "Rumansh," an old Latin language which is a combination of French, Italian, and German. This is quite far from Geneva (count at least 7 hours by car) but definitely worth the trip if you have time.

Restaurants in Geneva

Here are some dining tips during to make your stay here in Geneva more enjoyable.

  • Arthur's, 7-9 Rue de Rhône, Tel +41 22 810 3261. Trendy, exclusive, and nice.
  • Le Morga. Traditional French, more low key.
